The move by the San Diego Padres to acquire Brandon Drury from the Cincinnati Reds sort of gets lost in the fact that they also acquired Josh Hader, Josh Bell, and Juan Soto.

But Drury has proven to be just as valuable for the Padres as Hader, Soto, and Bell ultimately will.

Drury made his Padres debut last night and he sure made it count.

Facing Colorado Rockies starter Chad Kuhl with the bases loaded, Drury hit a grand slam on the first pitch he saw as a member of the Padres, helping them jump out to an early 5-0 lead and secure a win in the fourth game of the five-game series against Colorado.

You Stay Classy, Slam-Diego!

Welcome to Slam-Diego, Brandon Drury!

The Padres over the past few years have been known for their innate ability to hit a ton of grand slams, which helped coin the term, “Slam-Diego.”

It appears that Slam-Diego is back in full force.

Drury only adds to the offensive firepower the Padres already have in their lineup.

While the addition of Drury may be overshadowed by the moves made to acquire Hader, then Soto and Bell, it counts just as much and is a key addition as the Padres look to make a deep run into October for the first time since 1998.

Drury sure began his Padres career in style.

There’s really no better way to start than to hit a grand slam on the first pitch you see with your new team.

The Padres are certainly getting a big boost with Drury being added to their lineup.

Slam-Diego struck again last night as the Padres rolled to a 9-1 victory over the Rockies.
